As he left the jungle and sat down with hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, Martin, 64, was seen taking a sip of champers as he said: “I have dreamt about this moment.”

Asked what his favourite thing about the jungle was, Martin replied: “The other people, without a doubt. Sitting around and talking. I’m not one for making new friends, it’s the first time I’ve done it in years and I’ve loved it. I feel like, coming out now, I’ve done it, done everything I wanted to do, I’ve experienced it and I’ve got some good anecdotes.”

Martin’s son Roman came in third place when he did the show in 2019 and Ant and Dec couldn’t resist asking him how he felt about not beating him. But Martin said: “I’m glad I didn’t. He’s my boy and I love him.”

Meanwhile, the former Capital FM host took to X (formerly Twitter) to address he dad’s exit and time on the show. Roman initially wrote: “Oh noooooo #ImACelebrity,” before adding: “Love him and love that some of you have seen a snapshot of the man I aspire to be! We’ve had some great laughs on here. Tom for the win #ImACelebrity.”

It comes after Roman joked he didn’t want to see his dad beat his third place standing on I’m A Celeb. He quipped: “I’ll tell you this, if my dad survives tomorrow. I’m going to need to start the anti-voting campaign. I’m not having him beat my 3rd place… I’d never live it down #ImACelebrity.”

But he also shared somewhat of a sad secret about his father following the episode of the show in which the campmates were seen heading to the Jungle Arms as a special treat.

Roman, who has been posing regularly on social media alongside his dad’s appearance in the junlge, said: “One thing I have noticed is my dad keeps saying ‘my new friends’. He genuinely doesn’t have mates, so he means it, he’ll really be chuffed. Again, not being mean, that’s the truth.”
