Ruby and Harley, at RSPCA York, are desperate for new home
Ruby and Harley were taken into the care of RSPCA York but both found the upheaval distressing and they were overwhelmed when they first arrived at the centre.
With time, patience and lots of attention, they are slowly beginning to heal and are desperate for a new home as they are struggling being in a rescue environment.
The pair are domestic short haired cats and both neutered. Ruby, aged ten, and Harley, two, are both fully house trained, and very bonded to each other.

Ruth McCabe, manager of the animal centre on Landing Lane, said: “Watching them regain trust and show glimpses of their true personalities has been incredibly rewarding.
“Ruby prefers the comfort of her safe hiding spaces for now, but don’t let that fool you – she absolutely loves a gentle fuss and enjoys quiet company. She’s just not quite ready to venture out yet.
“Harley, on the other hand, has made wonderful progress and will now come out to greet you, often approaching for affection and a cuddle.
“Seeing both cats relax, enjoy our company, and even purr again has been truly heart warming.”

Ruth added: “We now feel Ruby and Harley are ready to begin their next chapter in the right home. Their ideal adopters will have a spare room dedicated just to them, filled with cosy hiding spots where they can settle at their own pace. With time, understanding, and plenty of love, these two will make incredibly rewarding companions.
“More than anything, we hope to find them the calm, patient home they so deeply deserve.”

Ruby and Harley are looking for a quiet home, with just adults and no other pets, where they can live as permanent indoor cats.
