Outbreaks of rain are to move in from the west this weekend
What to know about Scotland’s latest rain warning
- A new yellow warning for rain is in place for the southwest of Scotland. The warning is in place for Saturday, December 13 at 12pm and will last until Sunday, December 14, at 6pm.
- The Met Office is warning residents of affected areas to brace for between 30-40mm of rainfall in most areas. There is also 60-80mm forecast across high grounds. Strong southwesterly winds are also possible at times.
- Areas within the warning area include Dumfries and Galloway, Scottish Borders, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire and South Lanarkshire.
- According to the Met Office, flooding of homes and businesses is possible. Public transport could also be impacted, including bus and train journeys with travel times likely to take longer.
- In addition, motorists could also see disruption due to road flooding as well as road spray, both likely making travel time longer. Some interruption to power supplies and services like telephone and WiFi are also a possibility.
