Selby’s Mister C’s in top 3 at National Fish & Chip Awards
Selby’s Mister C’s has been named one of three finalists in the Quality Accreditation Champion category at the National Fish & Chip Awards 2026.
The award celebrates fish and chip businesses that have achieved the National Federation of Fish Friers’ (NFFF) Quality Accreditation Scheme status, a benchmark for excellence in areas such as sustainable sourcing, food safety, hygiene, staff training, and customer service.
Outlets with this accreditation display the distinctive ‘Big Q’ Quality Accreditation signage, which lets customers know that their meal meets the highest standards.

Mister C’s joins two other finalists – Knight’s Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury and Newington Fish Bar in Ramsgate, Kent – in the battle for the title.
The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, on 25 February.
The recognition places Mister C’s among the elite of the UK’s fish and chip sector. Known for its commitment to quality and consistency, the Selby chippy has long been a favourite for its perfectly cooked fish, golden chips, and friendly service.
Sector experts have reviewed the business’s approach to criteria such as sustainable sourcing, food safety, hygiene, employee upskilling, customer service excellence, and having an appetising fish and chip menu.
Andrew Crook, president of the NFFF, praised the finalists, saying: “Quality Accreditation Champion is much more than an award; it’s an outward display of amazing commitment from entrants to offer the best of the best for customers.
“There are so many requirements to become certified in the first instance, and this is deliberate to separate the great from the outstanding. We now have three of the industry’s finest ready to battle it out and it’s going to be a tough call for the panel of judges to make!”
Last year’s champion, The Scrap Box in York, reported a surge in trade and customer engagement after taking home the title.
Co-owner Aman Dhesi said: “Being named Quality Accreditation Champion was an unforgettable experience for us. It highlighted the hard work our team puts into delivering quality day in, day out.
“Since winning, we’ve seen a fantastic uplift in trade and customer engagement. The award gave us huge momentum and inspired us to push our standards even further. To all the 2026 finalists, enjoy every moment of the journey and best of luck! you’re already among the best in the business.”
For Mister C’s, the nomination is a testament to its dedication to excellence and its role in keeping Yorkshire’s fish and chip tradition alive and thriving.
