Seven vehicles collided on the M4 in south Wales on Wednesday evening
Collision involved seven vehicles There was severe disruption on the M4 near Cardiff on Wednesday evening after a serious collision. South Wales Police said it was called to report of a seven-vehicle crash on the M4 eastbound between Junction 33 (Pontyclun) and Junction 32 (Coryton Interchange) shortly before 4.35pm.
M4 brought to a standstill The motorway was brought to a standstill due to the collision. At 6pm traffic monitoring system Inrix said: “Severe delays and one lane closed due to multi-vehicle accident and debris on road on M4 Eastbound from J33 A4232 (Cardiff West And Services) to J32 A470 Northern Avenue (Coryton Interchange). Congestion to J34 (Miskin).” Some drivers were stuck for two hours.
Delays on surrounding roads Traffic was also slow on the other side of the carriageway due to onlookers. The A4232 also queued on approach.
Road reopened South Wales Police said the motorway reopened at 7pm. There were no reports of any injuries, the force confirmed.
