Simple trick to prevent winter sun from highlighting your streaky windows
AS THE winter sun dips lower, it’s highlighting an unsightly element of many people’s homes – the dreaded streaky window.
No matter how house proud you are, achieving streak-free windows can be a thankless task especially this time of year.

Luckily Allan Reid, double-glazing and glass expert and founder of Art Windows & Doors, has revealed a simple, 5-step method to achieve sparkling, streak-free windows for just 29p – perfect for this time of year when the sun exposes every smudge.
“You should aim to clean your windows at least once or twice a year, depending on location,” says Allan.
“Winter sunlight can make streaks more noticeable, so using the right technique is essential to keeping windows looking clean and bright.”
Allan’s streak-free guide is as follows:
Mix your solution
One part distilled vinegar to 10 parts warm water in a spray bottle (cost: 29p).
Rinse the window first
Lightly wash away dirt to prevent scratches.
Spray the solution
Cover the glass evenly.
Dry properly
Use a paper towel, squeegee, or lint-free microfiber cloth.
Finish with long, even strokes: Repeat as needed, ensuring no fibres are left behind for a flawless, streak-free finish.
This method not only saves money on expensive cleaning products but also ensures your windows shine even in the harsh winter light, avoiding the frustration of seeing every streak.
