Steven Bartlett engaged to longtime girlfriend Melanie Lopes after Christmas proposal

Steven Bartlett has popped the question to his girlfriend Melanie Lopes in a festive proposal while on a romantic getaway.

Melanie, 33, reportedly said yes to the Diary of a CEO host, also 33, on Christmas Day while they holidayed in Morocco.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair have never been happier and are excited to start planning their wedding together.

They’ve been living together both in London and in Los Angeles for the past few years after a brief split when his business started to take off.

A source said: ‘Steven and Melanie have been together for a long time, but their relationship really went up a notch after they started living together in both London and Los Angeles a couple of years ago.

‘The proposal happened on Christmas Day while they were on holiday together in Morocco. 

‘Steven asked Melanie to marry him and presented her with a beautiful diamond engagement ring. She was thrilled to say, “Yes.” They really are each other’s soulmates and couldn’t be happier.’

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the news, sharing they are ‘naturally, both very, very happy.’

Steven has previously praised his ‘loving relationship’ with ‘a wonderful woman’ as his ‘greatest achievement’.

He told The Sun in 2022: ‘I wasn’t sure if that was going to be possible for me, because what I learned about love at a young age was not very good. It was quite toxic.’

Who is Melanie Lopes?

Steven’s fiancée, Melanie, is a French-Portuguese wellness influencer who he first met in 2016.

They first began chatting through Instagram, and sparks began to fly with the pair together for a year until Steven ended things to focus on his career.

The Dragons’ Den star put the brakes on but quickly realised his mistake, flying 22 hours to Bali to win her over once more.

After four days together on the Indonesian Island, their romance was rekindled, and they’ve been together ever since.

Melanie is also an entrepreneur and founded Bali Breathwork, a wellness centre based in Shoreditch, London.

The pair don’t have children but in 2022, Steven told Metro he hoped to be a father by the time he’s 40.

‘I’d like to get married and have kids,’ he shared at the time, adding he feels happiest ‘when I feel connected to my friends, my girlfriend and my family.’
