A stolen Range Rover rammed a police car repeatedly as the driver tried to flee from cops in a Hamilton street.

Declan Jamieson, 35, was jailed for 18 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court. He was also banned from driving for seven years and must resit his test.
He admitted reset of the vehicle that had been stolen in Glasgow in April last year.
Jamieson also admitted driving dangerously while disqualified and carrying a knife.
The court heard the stolen Range Rover was bearing false number plates when police officers saw it in Deveron Crescent during the evening of April 17, 2024.
Daisy Bentley, prosecuting, said: “The blue flashing light was activated and a male police officer positioned the marked police vehicle to block the Range Rover.
“The accused, who had a passenger, accelerated sharply and drove into the front of the police car, causing substantial damage to both vehicles.
“He rammed the police vehicle several more times. A female officer got out and tried to take hold of Jamieson but he again accelerated and mounted the pavement, causing the driver’s door to strike the officer.

“She fell backwards and injured her wrist. She attended hospital but x-rays showed there was no fracture.
“Other police officers attended and when they caught up with the car in Brankholm Brae there was no one in it.
“They found a large hunting knife inside.”
Defence agent Gerry McGuire conceded that dad of two Jamieson has “a record he can’t be proud of”.

This included at least two previous convictions for driving while disqualified.
Sheriff John Hamilton KC noted the serious nature of the charges, but reduced the prison sentence from 24 months to 18 because Jamieson had pleaded guilty at the pre-trial stage.
