Stranger Things’ Tina explained as fans ‘work out’ why she sounds familiar – The Mirror
Season five finally introduced a crucial minor character, which left fans curious.
Everything you need to know about Tina in Stranger Things season 5
Tina Turnbow (played by Caroline Elle Abrams) was introduced in season five as a friend of Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) and she is the eldest daughter of the Turnbow family. She is the sister of Derek Turnbow (Jake Connelly) who became one of the breakout stars of the final season for his hilarious outbursts. Tina’s father runs a real estate business.
In season five, Erica and Tina experienced a falling out after Erica hit Tina’s crush during a game of dodgeball, leaving him with a black eye. Erica was forced to try and reconcile with Tina in an attempt to save Derek and his family from a Demogorgon attack, as Derek was Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) next target.
In the series, Tina is played by Caroline Elle Abrams, who began her acting career when she was just five years old. She started off in theatre and commercials, before transitioning into film and TV, landing her first role in the comedic drama Just Deal With It.
Fans were initially confused about Tina as another minor character with the same name has been referenced throughout the series. In the season two episode titled MADMAX, as well as the instalment called Trick Or Treat, Freak, Tina appeared as an older student at Hawkins High. She hosted a Halloween party at her house and she took an immediate interest in Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery).
The older Tina is in the same school year as Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton). She is seen dressed as Madonna from the Like A Virgin video, and in the series she is played by Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline.
