Morrisons has slashed the price on selected vegetables to just 5p, with the festive offer running until Boxing Day
With Christmas Day just around the corner, a leading supermarket has cut the cost of certain vegetables to help families keep their festive budgets in check.
Morrisons has trimmed prices on some of its most sought-after veg down to a mere 5p for those with a More Card. The bargain encompasses seasonal staples such as carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, and whole swede.
The grocery chain confirmed the price drop kicks in from today (December 18) and will run through to Boxing Day (December 26). Additionally, it unveiled a special promotion on its Morrisons British Best Roasting Potatoes, allowing customers to snap up 1.5kg bags of the Christmas must-have for only £1.
The grocer emphasised that the festive vegetable promotion was created in partnership with British farmers, guaranteeing that the offer wouldn’t undercut what producers receive for their crops.
Fraser Lovatt, Market Street Director at Morrisons, said: “We work directly with British farmers and growers all year round to bring our customers the freshest, highest-quality British produce. From sprouts to spuds, seasonal veg are at the heart of the Christmas dinner plate and we’re proud to help our customers enjoy them for less, while continuing to champion and support the British farmers who grow them.”
The 5p deal follows Morrisons’ announcement that they will be offering children a free meal across all their cafés over the Christmas period, reports the Manchester Evening News. As part of the offer, children can choose from a variety of popular dishes sold in Morrisons cafés, including Goodfella’s Mac and Cheese Garlic Bread, Birds Eye Chicken Dippers, Birds Eye Fish Fingers, and a build your own breakfast.
The meals, usually priced at £4, are available for free when an adult meal, priced over £5, is also purchased. The offer is open to all children under the age of 16.
Last week, Morrisons reminded More Card customers to check if they have any unspent ‘More Card Fivers’, as an estimated £30m worth of vouchers are currently unclaimed by shoppers. The supermarket also highlighted that ‘More Card Fivers’ can be used to reduce the cost of their Christmas shopping.
Morrisons has also announced price reductions on a range of other seasonal favourites in stores, with Market Street Whole Salmon, on offer at just £7.95/kg from now until Christmas Eve (December 24). Morrisons will also be launching a half price saving on its The Best Cherry Bakewell Mince Pies, The Best Apple Crumble Mince Pies, and The Best Mini Mince Pies.
