Emergency services were called to Possilpark in Glasgow after the black cab was found ablaze on Thursday afternoon.
A taxi burst into flames on a Scots street, with police now investigating the incident. Emergency services were called to Stronend Street in Glasgow at around 2.35pm on Thursday January 15 after the fire was reported.
Dramatic photos taken from the scene in the city’s Possilpark show flames erupting from the black cab. Smoke can be seen billowing out the windows in a plume which dwarfed surrounding buildings.
The taxi, which appears to be parked at the side of the road, had scorch marks visible on the doors and roof. Meanwhile the vehicle’s windows have been blown out or melted under the heat of flames.
No injures have been reported as a result of the fire. Enquiries into its cause are continuing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.35pm on Thursday, 15 January, 2026, we received a report of vehicle fire at Stronend Street, Possilpark. Enquiries are ongoing.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has also been contacted for comment.
