A teenage girl has been arrested after a woman in her 50s was found dead inside a Wiltshire home yesterday.
Police were called to a property in Moredon, Wilts, at around 7pm on Friday, November 21 after reports of a disorder which had taken place inside the house. Officers discovered a woman in her 50s, believed to have been living at the address, not breathing.
Sadly, despite best efforts to revive her she was pronounced dead at the scene. A police cordon has been set up at the property while enquiries are carried out to establish the full circumstances around the woman’s death.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We have launched an investigation following the death of a woman inside a property in Swindon this evening (21/11). At around 7pm this evening, we received a report of a disorder which had taken place inside a house in Baydon Close, Moredon.
“Officers responded to the scene, and upon arrival, a woman in her 50s living at the address was found to be not breathing. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she was sadly declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin are aware. There were no other reported injuries.
“A scene has been set up at the property while enquiries are carried out to establish the full circumstances around the woman’s death. A teenage girl has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken into custody for questioning.
DI Darren Ambrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died. We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. This is likely to remain in place overnight and throughout tomorrow.
“I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else. We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident.
“We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”
