‘Ten dead and 100 injured’ after high-speed train ‘derails’ in Spain

As many as 10 people have been killed in the derailment with 25 more gravely injured.

Hundreds of passengers bound for the capital city of Spain have been injured and several are confirmed dead after the train derailed from the tracks.

Hundreds of people headed to Madrid have been hurt following the incident. As many as 10 people have been killed in the derailment with 25 more gravely injured after a trail derailed in Andalucía, according to Spanish media reports.

The incident is believed to have taken place around 7.40pm local time on Sunday, January 18, according to Sky News.

Andalucía is a region in the south of Spain and encapsulates holiday spots popular with Brits including Seville, Granada and the Costa del Sol which is home to places like Málaga, Nerja, and Marbella.

Andalucía is situated more than 500km from Madrid and takes three hours to travel to by train, according to the Mirror.
