Tesco have recalled sausages over fears they are ‘unsafe to eat’. The supermarket giant recalled a number of Westaways Hogs Pudding (380g) products on November 14 after discovering the ‘required temperature was not reached’ during the manufacturing process.
All products with a use-by date of 10/12/2025 were included in the recall, with Tesco urging consumers ‘do not eat it’ – and offering a full refund with no receipt required. Hogs pudding, a type of white pudding produced in Cornwall and Devon, is pre-cooked before hitting the shelves and only requires warming up at home.
Improperly cooked sausage products can contain harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter, which can cause food poisoning. Devon-based manufacturer Westaways produces the affected product, which consists of pork, rusk, water and seasoning.
Tesco assured customers that no other Westaways products were affected by the recall. The recall notice said: “Westaways Sausages Ltd are recalling Hogs Pudding 380g with a Use By Date of 10/12/2025 due to incorrect cooking.
“The required temperature was not reached, making the product unsafe to eat. If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it.
“Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required. No other Westaways Sausages products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
