I’ll be honest: a lot of home whitening kits take too much work for the results they offer. I’ve tried strips that took almost an hour to work their (frankly, underwhelming) magic, and used “brightening” toothpastes which I swear made no difference at all.
Maybe it’s because I have what my dentist informed me are genetically more yellow teeth, which seem to run darker than normal no matter what I do.
So it’s safe to say I was pretty sceptical when SmilePro’s Advance Whitening Kit, which promised whiter teeth with sessions lasting as little as 10 minutes, fell through my letterbox.
Spoiler alert: I should not have been.
The sleek set includes brush pens packed with whitening gel, a rechargeable LED tool with blue, red, or mixed options, a charger and case, and a tooth shade guide.
The red LED lights are designed to keep your mouth healthy by targeting bacteria, while the blue ones are meant to whiten your teeth (I used either the blue or mixed versions).
At the start of the seven-day period – I chose a week, though you can use SmilePro’s whitening kit for up to 14 consecutive days – I opened the box, lifted the shade chart to my coffee-stained gnashers, and thought, “wow, have we got a way to go here”.
I began with a tooth shade close to the darker end, about a 10 or 11.
So, I figured I’d see how much difference a single session made. I charged the LED light, brushed my teeth with water, applied the gel carefully (be sure not to accidentally smear some on your gums), and placed the light in my mouth.
Surprisingly, the kit was pretty comfortable. As an added plus, the light automatically beeps every 10 minutes, so you don’t need to watch out for a timer.
I went for 20 minutes the first time (after that, TMI, but things started getting a little drool-y: remember to rinse the tray after use, people!).
I was pretty impressed by the results, which appeared to lift my shade by about two levels.
The great thing about SmilePro’s kit is that it seems to be built for real-life forgetfulness and rushes. I, a forgetful, busy person, managed to pack at least 10 minutes of this kit into my day-to-day for a week – probably because it’s really comfortable, and the amount of time it takes to work is so reasonable.
By the end of the week, my teeth were much higher up the chart. I, along with many, many other reviewers, became a pretty big fan of the kit after that.
Usually, a SmilePro Advanced Whitening Kit ends up costing you just over £3 per session (there’s enough in the pack for 30 individual treatments). Not bad to start with, right?
Well, there’s better news – with the brand’s current 50% Black Friday discount, that cost has shrunk significantly.
And that’s just one of SmilePro’s many deals, which go as high as 60% this Black Friday.
Hurry, though, as all their Black Friday deals end 1 December.
Don’t mind me, just finding my card…
