It was a heartbreaking moment which has gone viral on TikTok as Noah Playforth is told his ‘magical mission’ has raised more than £10,000 for ‘poorly children’
A little boy on a “magical” mission to run a mile a day for a children’s hospice in November broke down in tears after his nanna told him he’d smashed his £10,000 target.Emotional footage shows seven year old Noah Playforth given a hero’s welcome as he ran into his nanna’s arms, who told him: “You’ve done it!’
She showed the youngster the giant purple balloons saying £10,000 and the little boy from former mining town Maltby in South Yorkshire burst into tears. Noah – described as being “like a therapy dog” by his family – has been braving all conditions to raise money for ‘poorly children’ cheered on every day by locals.
His total target has now reached a massive £16,000 and his fund raising drive has gone viral on TikTok with 325,000 views of his latest clip. His mum Ashleigh told The Mirror: “I’m lost for words, this video has gone mental on social media and reached more than £16,000. “That little boy is ahead of his years and watching him cry is a moment I will never forget because I just knew at that moment he completely understood what he was doing and how important it was. I could see it in his little face.
“My dad was stood in front of the numbers with an umbrella trying at first to hide it, so he just ran to my mum and she brought him back to see it. I will never ever forget his little face, never forget that moment. We were watching the views on TikTok later, he was getting 100 views every 30 seconds. He’s not on 325,000 views on that one video.
“There’s a lot of sadness in this world, but this whole journey shows there is good and there is kindness. He turned the Christmas lights on in Maltby this Saturday. He had people stopping to ask him for photos with him and stopping to hug him. He’s a really gentle soul and very sensitive.
“It’s been amazing to watch him blossom into something truly beautiful. To watch him get up on that stage and he was asked if he wanted to say anything and he said he wanted to thank everyone for donating, sharing and getting behind me. His little face was beaming from ear to ear. It’s been truly magical.”
The youngster went viral on TikTok after starting his heart-wrenching mission at the beginning of this month for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Noah is expected to bring his whole town out in Maltby on December 1st when he completes his final mile.
One TikTok clip shows a touching meeting with one of the little boys he is trying to help at the hospice, which has now developed into an ‘incredible’ bond. Logan Shakespeare, aged four, has a life limiting condition and his parents told how they had nearly lost him on several occasions after a seizure and an infection.
Logan is one of the children whose family are supported by the hospice and have told of being deeply touched by Noah’s actions. Noah’s proud mum Ashleigh and dad Simon Playforth, both 31, who also have a son called Roman, aged five, told how the pair now have an extra special bond. She explained how her son took action after hearing their plans to raise money at their engineering company’s Christmas party in Maltby, South Yorkshire.
“He came home from school and said ‘mommy I want to help the little kids’ and suggested running every day in November.” She said as the days went by more and more people joined them including his football team.
