The restaurants and cafes that opened in Bolton this year
And 2025 was no exception, with a raft of restaurants and cafes opening across Bolton.
Here are some of the new eateries that opened in the borough this year.
The Coffee House, Farnworth

Having already opened its popular store in Bolton town centre, in February, The Coffee House was the first business to open at the new Farnworth Green development.
The Farnworth Green scheme, at the town’s old market precinct, is made up of nearly 100 new homes along with shops, cafes, bars and a new outdoor green space.
Developers, Capital&Centric, said the shop’s opening marked a huge milestone for the development.
Olivia’s Deli, Farnworth

Adding to the foodie offering in Farnworth was Olivia’s, which opened just opposite the new development in May.
The shop serves a range of food, centred around its salad bar which includes roasted meats, salad leaves, vegetables and sauces, as well as already-made salads such as Greek salad, couscous, pasta salad and more.
Owner, Sultan Soadeh, wanted to bring something “reasonably priced” and with Mediterranean flavours to Farnworth.
Aliona Cafe, Horwich

Aliona opened its doors in July, on Chorley New Road in Horwich.
The café is owned by Aliona Doyle, who moved from Ukraine to Ireland and eventually to Bolton in 2014.
Aliona has an extensive lunch and all-day breakfast menu, with vegan and vegetarian options, including caprese avocado smash, scrambled tofu and tamari mushroom, cooked breakfasts and shakshuka.
Chit ‘n’ Chaat, Daubhill

Chit ‘n’ Chaat opened their Bolton branch in October this year.
The chain started on the Curry Mile in Manchester in 2020, with more restaurants opening in London, Cheshire Oaks and Cheadle.
But their latest outlet opened on St Helens Road, priding itself on serving authentic Indian street food.
La Nonna, town centre

La Nonna Coffee and Bakery opened its doors on Newport Street – near the train station – in early November.
Owner Renaldo Haxhiraj said that he was inspired to open an Italian coffee shop in Bolton by his time working in Italy.
The shop also serves a range of desserts, including baklava, brioche and cakes, and Renaldo said at the time of its opening that they would be launching a range of paninis.
Capri Ristorante, Westhoughton

Bringing an “authentic taste of Italy” to Westhoughton, Capri was opened in mid-November.
The Market Street restaurant is a new venture rom the owners of San Marino in Belmont and CIBO in Egerton.
Owner Haziz Berisha said the restaurant was aiming to copy the success of CIBO – with separate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Side Street Burgers, Chorley Old Road

This burger brand opened its Bolton branch at the end of November, on Chorley Old Road.
Founded in 2020 as a small delivery kitchen in Rochdale, Side Street Burgers has expanded across England and Scotland, building a loyal following with its bold flavours and US-style menu.
Dishes on offer in Bolton included smashed beef burgers, Nashville chicken tenders, Sando chicken sandwiches, loaded fries, OG boxes, sharing platters and more.
The Deli, Tonge Moor

The Deli, opened on Tonge Moor Road in early December, owned and operated by Rosie Goodwin, 32, and is already proving hugely popular with locals and those further afield.
The café sells a variety of foods, drinks, and treats, from classic breakfasts and Yorkshire pudding wraps to Bakewell cupcakes and strawberry cheesecakes.
Rosie took her opportunity to open the shop after the previous owner of the property – a friend of Rosie’s – decided to sell the space.
Istanbul Restaurant, Astley Bridge

A very recent addition, this restaurant opened on December 19, welcoming its first customers through the door.
Istanbul Restaurant is the latest venture from friends Hemin Omar and Ibrahim Rasul, and is based at 486 Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, Bolton.
This is not the pair’s first foray into the restaurant business, having both previously worked in Wigan’s Melis, Leicester’s Efes, and Coventry’s Antalya.
