Fans have been sent into a frenzy since host Claudia Winkleman announced the new twist of a Secret Traitor, and one superfan is convinced they have spotted who it is
The Traitors‘ secret Traitor has been “unmasked”. Fans believe they’ve figured out who the mystery person is as they are “used to working by themselves”. It comes as the latest season of the BBC show kicked off on New Year’s Day and already has fans working overtime.
Fans have been sent into a frenzy since host Claudia Winkleman announced the new twist, which meant there wasn’t just going to be the usual three Traitors at the start of the game. Keeping things fresh, Claudia announced the twist in the first episode and told viewers: “I’m also going to pick a Secret Traitor and nobody will know who that is – not the Traitors and not even you. It’s naughty, isn’t it?”
Since announcing the twist, fans have been working overtime trying to pick up on any clue of who the ‘secret Traitor’ could be. One superfan is convinced it is Jack who is a personal trainer and chess player.

They said: “I think the Secret Traitor is Jack. He is a chess player who is used to working by himself.” They added: “But also when they did the naming at the first round table, they didn’t show a board with his handwriting on which probably would have been a match with the scroll that was given to the main traitors.”
Other fans agreed online, as one person wrote: “Could Jack be the Secret Traitor??” along with the handwriting comparison. Another person said: “Jack is the secret traitor I just knoooowwwwwwww”.
A third added: “Jack on being a traitor and a comparison of the shortlist and his roundtable plaque. Currently, my frontrunner for being a secret traitor.” Another pointed out: “They focused in on everyone’s board at the round table except Jack’s and now I’m convinced he’s the secret traitor and we didn’t see his handwriting for a reason.”
Another quipped: “My current theory for the Secret Traitor, on #TheTraitors, is this guy, Jack. They specifically showed us the clip where he says he plays chess every day and competitively, is strategic, and good at reading people. This kind of role in the background suits him perfectly, honestly.”
The new twist in the game to have a ‘Secret Traitor’ is reportedly to give viewers a taste of what it feels like to be a Faithful and not know who the Traitors are.
The Secret Traitor wears a red cloak, while the other three Traitors stay in the traditional dark green robes. While none of the three Traitors know the identity of the Secret Traitor, their new boss knows exactly who they are.
The three Traitors are Rachel, Stephen and Hugo, who were shocked to learn there is a Secret Traitor. The Secret Traitor’s main power is that they get to dictate which of the Faithful can be murdered each night. They give the three traitors a short list of whom they can murder.
The Traitors returns at 8pm on Wednesday, January 7, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
