Fans of the BBC series couldn’t believe the mistake hadn’t been noticed
The Traitors viewers noticed that Rachel slipped up after an intense roundtable where she was almost eliminated by the chest of chance.
As the final approached, The Traitors viewers were ready to see who will win the 2026 installment of the hit BBC series. Rachel and Stephen were chosen as traitors when the new series began earlier this month and are joined by faithfuls, Jade, Faraaz and Jack as finalists.
If a traitor remains in the show at the end of the final episode, they will have the opportunity to steal the prize pot from the faithfuls – which currently stands at £76,750.
Rachel and Stephen are the only traitors left in the competition after Hugo was banished early on. Secret traitor Fiona also missed out on the final after an explosive row with Rachel led to her banishment.
Ahead of the final, Matthew was banished and shortly after it was Roxy who had been murdered. Rachel and Stephen chose her over Faraaz, hoping that they could swing the blame elsewhere.
During the final episode, James’ fate was left to chance after he received the same number of votes as traitor Rachel during the penultimate episode of the BBC reality game show.
While Claudia Winkleman broke the deadlock by presenting them each with a small chest, both players were instructed to open their boxes and reveal who will be banished.
Rachel narrowly escaped banishment after pulling a shield from her box. Prior to revealing his identity as a faithful, James said: “It’s been amazing. I’ve learned a lot about myself, and it’s just been an incredible experience.
“I feel strangely serene right now. What a game. Thank you. The first round table, when the blindfolds went on, I was selected immediately, and have been from the start as a t-t-traithful…faithful. Good luck everyone. Good luck. It’s been a pleasure.”
However, some viewers noticed that she slipped up while speaking to Faraaz after the roundtable. As he mentioned to Rachel that he’s having doubts about her being a traitor, the pair had an open conversation.
Rachel accidentally said: “If I was a faithful, I would murder me” before correcting herself to say, “If I was a traitor”. While it appears Faraaz didn’t notice, viewers did.

@thesoftrevolt penned: “No one clocked Rachel’s slip up. These faithfuls are awful” and @big_man_joshyy said: “Why didn’t anyone immediately pull her up on that slip? Everyone just stops playing the game when Rachel speaks.”
