Three arrested following high-speed police chase in Bolton
The number plates were suspected to be false and specialist officers from the police’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) moved to intercept the car.
The chase took place in the early hours of Sunday.
This resulted in the high-speed pursuit – before officers deployed a stinger device after around 10 minutes, bringing the car to a stop.
Three men jumped out of the car as it was coming to a stop and were chased by officers on foot.
Two were detained immediately, and the third managed to briefly escape before a dog unit managed to track him down to be arrested.
All three were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
They were bailed to reattend at a police station, but two were wanted on recall to prison and were taken back to jail.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said:” Officers identified a suspected stolen vehicle on false plates in Bolton where specialist officers from the Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) moved in to intercept the car, which resulted in a high-speed pursuit
“A foot chase followed and two men were detained immediately by officers.
“A third man managed to briefly escape, but we had a dog unit on-hand who quickly managed to locate the suspect and detain him.All three men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
“The men were bailed to re-attend at a police station but two of them were wanted on-recall to prison and have since been transported back to jail.”
