The tiny kitten was discovered by surprised staff on Thursday morning.
A terrified kitten was found abandoned by ScotRail staff on an Edinburgh-bound train.
The grey-striped kitten with white socks was discovered onboard the 8.25am service from Helensburgh Central to Edinburgh Waverley on Thursday morning, January 8.
It is thought the pet may have been accidentally left behind on the carriage.
Despite being shaken by it’s ordeal, the tiny stowaway is now being cared for, with ScotRail staff reassuring worried pet lovers that it came to no harm.
The kitten has since been handed over to Cats Protection.
Appealing for the kitten’s owner to come forward, ScotRail shared details of the discovery on social media. A post read: “This wee soul was found onboard one of our services. If you’ve left them behind by accident, please get in touch with us directly so we can look to get them back to you. Rest assured, it’s a little frightened, but safe and sound.”
Later they added: “We can now confirm that the cat is in safe hands with Cats Protection.”
The news pulled on the heartstrings of many on social media. One person said: “Poor thing, terrible if the person left him there on purpose.”
Another added: “Not mine, but I’ll gladly adopt if unable to find the owner.”
