Trains facing ‘major disruption’ following broken rail

Trains running between two stations could be cancelled, delayed or revised

Train services running through Peterborough to Stevenage are currently disrupted due to a broken rail. The line between the stations is blocked.

Trains running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Thameslink services between Peterborough and Huntingdon are not able to run with customers being told to use alternative routes to get to their destinations.

The disruption is expected to last until the end of the day. Customers who experience a delay in their journey might be able to claim back some money for their ticket as compensation.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: “A broken rail between Peterborough and Stevenage means that the southbound line is blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 50 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
