Trains running between St Neots and Peterborough were affected

Trespassers on the railway line near Huntingdon caused disruption to train services in Cambridgeshire. London North Eastern Railway (LNER) confirmed all lines between St Neots and Peterborough are closed to allow emergency services to attend the scene.

All trains between these stations will be delayed, cancelled, or revised, with disruption expected to last until around 1.30pm. Anyone on a train that is delayed between stations should stay on board and listen for updates.

Those travelling on Great Northern and Thameslink services are being advised to delay their journey until the line has reopened. Alternative routes are limited but LNER has confirmed tickets will be accepted on the following routes:

  • Great Northern and Thameslink services on any reasonable route including to/from Bedford and between Ely and London
  • Greater Anglia, Cross Country and East Midlands Railway services between Peterborough and Ely
  • Greater Anglia services between Ely, Cambridge and London
  • London Underground between London Terminals

A spokesperson for LNER said: “All lines are closed between St Neots and Peterborough whilst the emergency services respond to an incident. To allow them to carry out their work safely, no trains can currently run through the area. As a result, trains running between these stations may be delayed, cancelled or revised.

“Disruption is expected until 13:30.”
