The US President is launching ‘Trump Class’ an extremely powerful type of battleship

The US President has announced plans to build the “largest battleship in the history of the world” as tensions continue to rise between Venezuela and the US.

Donald Trump made the announcement at a press conference held in West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday, December 22.

The US leader made the major statement alongside the US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of the Navy John Phelan and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He presented a board with a battleship on that read ‘Trump Class’ and claimed: “There’s never been anything like these ships. These have been under design consideration for a long time.

“They’ll be the fastest, the biggest by far and 100 times more powerful than any battleship ever built. The largest battleship in the history of the world.”

Trump continued to say that the vessels would be made of steel and weigh between 30,000 and 40,000 tonnes. They will be armed with the “most sophisticated lasers in the world” as well as “guns and missiles”.

The US President explained the fleet will grow to around 25 ships however the new ‘Trump Class’ will start off as two vessels.

The news comes as the president said that the US is “desperately in need of ships” as the ones they have are “old and tired”. The Navy’s John Phelan added: “The future Trump-class battleship, the U.S.S. Defiant, will be the largest, deadliest, and most versatile, and best-looking warship anywhere on the world’s oceans.

He then thanked Trump for this “game-changing capability for the United States’ Navy.”
