Trump Baselessly Claims ICE Shooting Victim 'Willfully And Viciously Ran Over' Agent

In an incendiary Truth Social post, President Donald Trump claimed the woman who was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was being “disorderly” in the moments leading up to the shooting, describing an incident that’s very different compared to what footage of the shooting actually shows.

“[T]he woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defence,” Trump said.

Footage of the shooting shows two masked officers approaching the woman’s car as it blocks part of the road in front of the ICE agents’ truck, while one of them says, “Get out of the fucking car.” One agent grabs at the driver’s door handle and reaches inside the vehicle, apparently prompting the woman to back up and start driving, turning the vehicle’s wheels to the right. An officer then fires into the open window of the car, killing her.

Another video taken from further away appears to show the driver grazing an officer while driving off.

“Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” Trump said of the shooter.

“We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!” he concluded his post.

The president’s description of the incident echoes that of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who claimed the woman was committing “an act of domestic terrorism.”

“They were attempting to push out their vehicle and a woman attacked them and those surrounding them, and attempted to run them over and rammed them with her vehicle,” she claimed. “An officer of ours acted quickly, and defensively shot to protect himself and the people around him.”

As with Trump’s remarks, Noem’s description of the events are completely unaligned with the incident that is shown unfolding on video.

She continued: “This goes to show the assaults that our ICE officers and law enforcement are under every single day. These vehicle rammings are domestic acts of terrorism.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey came down hard on the self-defence claims coming out of the Trump administration.

“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defence. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: That is bullshit. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying,” Frey said at a press conference.

“I have a message for ICE,” Frey continued. “To ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
