Two teenagers killed and third ‘seriously injured’ in horror Rotherham crash

Two teenagers have sadly died and a third is fighting for his life in hospital following a horror crash in Rotherham just days before Christmas – police are urging witnesses to come forward

Two teenagers have tragically died and a third teenager remains in a “critical condition” after a horror car crash yesterday morning.

The collision in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, took place at around 2.40am on Saturday December 13 and involved a silver Toyota Corolla. The car was travelling towards Todwick when it left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

Sadly, the two teenagers died at the scene and the third was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police are now appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ” We are investigating a collision in Rotherham in which two teenagers have sadly lost their lives. In the early hours of this morning (13 December) at 2.40am, emergency services responded to a road traffic collision on Todwick Road.

“It is understood that a silver Toyota Corolla was travelling away from Dinnington, towards Todwick when it has left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

“The driver, a 17-year-old girl and her passenger, a 17-year-old boy were pronounced dead the scene. Their families have been informed and are being supported by officers. A second passenger, a 18 year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

“We are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are keen to speak to witnesses, those with footage of the collision or the car prior to colliding, or any information that you believe can assist officers.”

Sergeant John Taylor from the Serious Collisions Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of those who have died, and the man seriously injured. We are working to ascertain the circumstances and are keen to speak to anyone who believes they can help.

“Footage can be shared directly with us through our portal. If you saw the vehicle prior to the collision, we’d like to hear from you.”
