Two teens arrested after Bolton town centre disorder
Police responded to reports of anti-social behaviour near the Knowsley Street McDonalds on Saturday night (November 15), involving around 60 people.
Images from the scene, taken at around 7pm, show a large police presence, with a tactical aid unit and several police cars. Police officers were also spotted inside the McDonalds.
According to an update from Greater Manchester Police, two 16-year-olds were arrested as a result.
One was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault, and the other on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and violent disorder.
Both remain under investigation.
A spokesperson for GMP added: “These arrests are linked with what triggered the dispersal notice to be put in place, with the group dispersed and no further arrests once that was in.”
In response to the anti-social behaviour, the town centre was placed under a Section 34 dispersal order, which is set to last until 2am on Sunday, November 16.
In a statement issued at the time, Inspector Nick White from Bolton Response said: “The reported behaviour of those involved, putting members of the public at risk, will not be tolerated.
“Bolton should be a safe place for all those who wish to visit to make use of facilities within the Town Centre.”
