Drivers were asked to avoid the area while the incident was dealt with
Police have provided an update after the A14 was closed for nearly three hours last night (December 12). Emergency services rushed to J34 of the A14, Fen Ditton, due to a crash at about 11.30pm.
The road was closed for almost three hours in the eastbound direction after reopening in the early hours of this morning. Drivers were asked to take alternative routes while the incident was dealt with.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary shared on Facebook at the time: “We are currently in attendance at an RTC on the A14 Junction 34 Fen Ditton. There is a full road closure in place on the East Bound Carriageway at Junction 34.
“Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take alternative routes while the incident is dealt with. We thank you for your patience while we deal with this ongoing incident.”
It has now been confirmed that the crash was between two vehicles, an HGV and a car. Due to significant damage to one of the vehicles, the road was closed.
The road then reopened at around 2.30am. It has now been confirmed that a person in the car received minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.
