Victim at centre of Tarn Drive, Bury murder probe pictured
Joe Burton, 23, died after an incident on Tarn Drive, Redvales just before midnight on Wednesday, December 31.
Police confirmed that they were called to reports of a disturbance late that night, and that Mr Burton died despite the best efforts of emergency services.
Speaking on Thursday morning, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 11.55pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, we were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Tarn Drive in Bury.
“Officers attended the scene and located a male in his 20s with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene, the male sadly died.
“A male and a female in their 20s have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
On Friday, officers announced that they had charged Anthony Junior Murray, 25, with murdering Mr Burton and with possession of a bladed article.

The woman, also in her 20s, was bailed pending further enquiries.
Murray, of Tarn Drive, did not enter a plea when he appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
He was remanded into custody ahead of a further expected hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday January 5.
