What are the best kids toys for Christmas? Your guide to this year’s most popular toy trends
Labubu, a furry monster-faced creature, is easily the most-wanted Christmas toy of 2025 – but parents will have a job getting their hands on one. The creatures are so wildly popular that creator Pop Mart has been distributing them via raffles to stop touts selling them on for inflated prices.
“None of us had any idea what Labubu was going to become,” explains Victoria Kay, Head of Buying at Hamleys. “Pop Mart gave me a gold Labubu and I gave it away. Now there’s a buying frenzy.”
Bluey, Lilo & Stitch and Paw Patrol remain huge, Kay says. “The halo effect of Peppa Pig having a new sister, baby Evie, has propelled Peppa back into the limelight too.”
My job – or rather, my children’s – is to try them all out. You can read their full reviews below.

The best kids toys for Christmas: At a glance
What makes a great Christmas toy?
The best Christmas toys for preschool children are tactile, cuddly and have a sensory element, says Hamleys’ Victoria Kay. “Everyone loves a hug – that’s why teddy bears always go down well,” she adds.
For children in the first years of school, toys that spark their imaginations and encourage motor skills tend to keep their attention for longer. “If a toy gets a child moving, they tend to return to it.”
If in doubt, opt for a toy that makes you smile. “Our bestsellers tend to be toys that make people of all ages feel good.”
