What does 6-7 mean? Google joins viral internet meme

Once the realm of children and teenagers, the meme has quickly been adopted by Google through a new feature on its search engine.

When people use the search term “6-7” on Google, they will be greeted by a strange Easter egg that wobbles the results page.

What does 6-7 even mean? The popular meme explained

6-7 is an internet meme and slang term popular among children and teenagers.

It spread across the internet like wildfire, gaining popularity on social media apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

The phrase originated from a song called Doot Doot (6 7) by Skrilla, a tune that was used in a number of fan edits involving basketball players like LaMelo Ball, who is listed at 6ft 7in tall.

However, it wouldn’t be until March 2025 when a boy named Maverick Trevillian became known as the “6 7 Kid” that it would become truly viral.

The trend started to pick up pace when Maverick Trevillian was shown in a video yelling the term at a basketball game while performing the associated hand gesture.

While most have described the meme as “annoying” and dubbed it “brainrot”, it is thought to be an early indicator of the growing influence of “Generation Alpha” (those born roughly between 2010 and 2025) online.

The term itself essentially means nothing and is a nonsensical trend developed to be absurd and confusing.
