Whinfield Yarn Bombers bring festive display to Darlington
The community group, comprising entirely of volunteer knitters, decorated railings, post boxes, and bollards with knitted snowmen, reindeer, and festive baubles.
The Whinfield Yarn Bombers have previously created displays for Easter, Remembrance, and other community events. Volunteers began working on this year’s Christmas display weeks in advance.

The yarn bombing group were previously subject to vandalism last September, after they discovered two creations had been stolen while a third was ripped off a bollard.

Residents in the neighbourhood have praised the project for brightening up the area during the darker winter months.
The display will remain in place throughout the festive season, allowing residents and families to enjoy it over the school holidays and into the New Year.
Councillor Jamie Bartch said on a social media post: “Another cracking festive display from the Whinfield yarn bombers. Brilliant work to all those involved.”
