Whitby Christmas Market 2025 kicks off with fireworks show

The annual Whitby Christmas Market got underway on Friday 14 November and was held until Sunday 16 November, boasting more than 50 stalls offering crafts, gifts and treats alongside food vendors helping shoppers to refuel.

The free-to-attend event was staged at the Marina Front Car Park on Langbourne Road and was thought to be the town’s largest such market since the seasonal festival was first held.

The official Christmas lights switch-on took place on Friday evening, with a performance by the Stakesby School Choir, to kick off the festive fun, which also included a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday night. The entertainment also included fairground rides and games.

These stunning photos from Andrew Sturdy, who is a member of The Press Camera Club, perfectly capture the magic in the sky – and we’ve chosen our favourite to be published in The Press tomorrow.
