Young man in hospital after early hours Bolton assault

Police were called to reports of an assault at around 5.50am today, Saturday, January 17 on Bradshawgate, near to The Cube.

An 18-year-old man is in hospital with a “serious head injury” and a 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to Bolton town centre at around 5.50am this morning to reports a male had been assaulted.

“An 18-year-old is currently being treated in hospital for a serious head injury. We have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of assault.”

A police scene was still in place as of 9am today, with blood visible on the floor. The cordon was lifted at around 9.15am.

The Bolton News has seen CCTV footage of the assault, which timestamps say took place at about 5.50am.
