Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe has welcomed potential support from Elon Musk, amid recent speculation about the billionaire’s interest in the party.

Speaking on GB News’ Camilla Tominey Show, Lowe addressed reports of a possible $100 million donation from the Tesla founder.

“Well, I don’t know whether it’s true or not, but I hope it is,” Lowe said.

“I think Elon Musk is about to do a fantastic job in America, and hopefully he will repeat what he did at Twitter, cut out large quantities of dead administrative overhead and return America to being what it should be, which is the capitalist example of the world.”

This comes after Musk directly denied reports he was planning to donate £80 million to Reform UK when questioned by ITV News on Capitol Hill Thursday.

The speculation had intensified after Musk shared a post on X on November 29 claiming Reform UK will win the next election, adding “yes” as his caption.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage previously told GB News he was unaware of any planned donations, but claimed Musk was “very supportive” of him.

Farage said: “He thinks that if Reform do well in the UK, we can bring about the same kind of change that he intends to do with Donald Trump in America.”

Lowe acknowledged that while direct financial support from Musk would not be possible due to his American citizenship, the billionaire could assist Reform UK through alternative means.

“Musk is his own man and I think he will make his own decision, but I will, as one of the five Reform MPs, welcome him in any way he can help us,” Lowe said.

“He can’t help us directly, because he’s an American citizen, but he could help in other ways, think-tanks and other things.”

Under UK party funding rules, only British citizens or UK-registered companies that conduct business in Britain can make political donations exceeding £500.

In broader comments about Reform UK’s role, Lowe outlined his vision for challenging the current political establishment.

“I’m concentrating on exposing quite how ineffective Parliament is,” he said.

He claimed Reform’s five MPs were demonstrating that “if you had a proper opposition, we would be able to expose the idiocy, the stupidity and the lack of competence of, not only the front bench, but most of the Labour Party and the entire Civil Service.”

Lowe also criticised the Conservative Party as “currently broken” and called for significant changes.

He said Kemi Badenoch faces a “huge, Herculean job” to reform the party’s head office and remove “Cameron-ite, One Nation Tories who are not Tories.”
