King Charles has sent a personal message of congratulations to Donald Trump following his historic second inauguration as US President, Buckingham Palace has revealed.
The monarch’s private correspondence praised the special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.
Mr Trump, who has previously spoken of having “automatic chemistry” with the late Queen, has described King Charles as a “really wonderful guy”.
The Royal Family continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining the UK’s bond with America, with Mr Trump well known for his admiration of the British monarchy.

Donald Trump began his inauguration day with a church service at St. Johns Episcopal Church, located just a block from the White House.
The president-elect was joined in the front pew by his wife Melania and son Barron, alongside incoming Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha.
The Trump family was out in force, with Ivanka and Jared Kushner attending with their children.
Don Jr. was present with his ex-wife Vanessa and their children, whilst Tiffany Trump attended with husband Michael Boulos.

Eric and Lara Trump completed the family gathering, bringing their two children to the service.
The historic church, mere steps from the presidential residence, provided an intimate setting for the Trump family’s pre-inauguration gathering.
The service drew an impressive array of tech industry leaders, with Silicon Valley’s most prominent figures in attendance.
Among those present were Tesla’s Elon Musk, TikTok CEO Shou Chew, and Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg.
Whilst no formal plans have been confirmed, Buckingham Palace indicated that all options remain open for potential state visits between the two leaders.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook were also spotted at the church service, alongside media mogul Rupert Murdoch and former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Whilst no formal plans have been confirmed, Buckingham Palace indicated that all options remain open for potential state visits between the King and Trump.
Any official state visit would need to be arranged on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with the final decision resting with the Government.
The monarch and Trump are expected to meet face-to-face during his second term.
