A former Republican strategist has said Donald Trump will “hit the ground running” when he returns to the White House.

The President-elect will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20.

Host of the 13th and Park podcast Adam Goodman told GB News there is going to be “movement from day one”, including a crackdown on Washington waste.

He also added that Trump will focus on energy security and border independence as his priorities once he returns to the role.

Goodman told GB News: “There’s going to be movement from day one. They’re going to come out of the box fast. Back in 2017 Trump came out in the first major thing he was doing was fighting the Affordable Care Act.

“He wanted to rescind the Affordable Care Act, which was a very difficult lift by anyone’s estimation, going in between that and the Muslim ban that was on announced day two. So he started off on a track where, I think there was many people opposing where he was going, as opposed those who are coming with him

“On his first couple days, you can expect major league announcements and executive orders having to do with border security and energy independence, having to do with law and order.

“But do not underestimate the power of what incoming President Trump said when he warned Hamas that there would be hell to pay if they didn’t do what they’ve now done. So it’s a nice way of, kind of starting an administration.”

Goodman was also quick to praise the incoming Attorney General, Pam Bondi, who he first met 15 years ago while she was working in the State Attorney’s Office and became Attorney General of Florida, and has stayed in close contact with since.

He added: “She’s got tremendous and real experience. We have this saying, ‘boots on the ground’. She was a real prosecutor. She handled hugely difficult cases, capital offenses like murder, kidnapping. She held the hands of countless victims and their families who have gone through the most harrowing experiences.

“She’s got the power to communicate, I went back to the first film we did together when she announced she was running for Attorney General of Florida. It was like three and a minutes in a courtroom, and she pulled that off in like, 45 minutes.

“It was unbelievable. I could have been there for two days with some people I’ve worked with. It was fabulous because of her presentation. She’s going to bring that skill set to the Attorney General’s office in in this country at a time when we really need it. This is where confidence is very low in the Department of Justice, the FBI, other arms of law enforcement, We need, as a country, a shot in the arm.

Brandon Rottinghaus, a political scientist at the University of Houston, believes Trump will also have the Republican Party backing him more compared to his first term.

He told ABC News: “We’re seeing a real 180 from his first term that’s really kind of stunning. “They’ve got CEOs and politicians who are more or less catering to his desires even before he takes office. So it’s really a big change.”

In a Monmouth University poll from December, 53 percent were optimistic about the policies Trump would pursue in his next term,

This is up from than the 50 percent who said the same just before he took office in January 2017.
