A rapper accused of posting a “menacing” video about Tommy Robinson on social media has been found guilty.

Omar Abdirizak, who is a Birmingham-based rapper known as Twista Cheese, stood trial at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday after denying a charge of sending a grossly offensive or menacing message via a public communications network.

The 30-year-old, from Sparkbrook, was alleged to have made the video between 1 and 10 August and posted it on social media, before it was then shared by Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, on X, formerly Twitter.

Prosecutors previously dropped a charge of conveying false information that was brought against Abdirizak, replacing it with the new charge.

During a previous hearing before District Judge David Wain when Abdirizak entered his not guilty plea, the defendant was granted unconditional bail and was told a police officer will be the sole witness at the trial.

A number of suspects were charged following protests that broke out across the UK in the summer after three young girls were stabbed to death in a mass knife attack in Southport.
