Seven people have been arrested after an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death.

Emergency services were called at 20:20 GMT on Saturday to reports that a man had been stabbed in Rose Avenue, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

He died on nearby Heanor Road just before 21:00 GMT, Derbyshire Police said.

Officers said four boys, all aged 17, were arrested on suspicion of murder while another boy, 17, a 52-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl and a girl, 16, were all arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They all remained in custody, the force said.

Det Ch Insp Claudia Musson said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and we are treating it as an isolated incident.

“We are keen for anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency to assist with the inquiry into the death of this young man.”

The man’s family have been told what happened and were being supported by officers, the force said.

Anyone with information or footage was asked to get in touch with the police.

In particular, officers said they were after CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage from between 19:00-21:00 GMT in Heanor Road, Rose Avenue, Summerfields Way, Kedleston Drive and Peveril Drive.
