Woman arrested on suspicion of murdering man

A woman in her 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who was found fatally stabbed in his home.

The body of William McNicholl, who was 63 and known as Billy, was discovered at the property in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, on 1 January.

A post-mortem examination found the primary cause of death was a single stab wound, but he had also suffered head injuries.

Suffolk Police said a woman was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier and remained in custody.

The force had previously said the last reported sighting of Mr McNicholl, who lived alone, was on 23 December.
