Hopes for Michael Schumacher as he 'could attend son Mick's wedding' amid rumours he appeared at daughter Gina's

HOPES are growing for Michael Schumacher as it’s speculated he could attend his son’s wedding following rumours he appeared at his daughter’s nuptials.

The seven-time F1 champion is said to have attended the marriage of his daughter Gina, 27, to Iain Bethke, in a private ceremony.

The pair tied the knot in Majorca, at the family’s luxury villa, near the upmarket resort of Port d’Andratx.

Schumacher’s attendance has not been confirmed by his family.

Stricken Schumacher has reportedly spent much of his time at the £27million villa, which is believed to have been adapted allowing a team of doctors and nurses to provide round-the-clock care.

The F1 star, now 55, suffered life-changing injuries after a serious skiing accident in Grenbole in December 2013.

He spent months in a medically induced coma and eventually returned to his home at Lake Geneva in Switzerland in September 2014.

He has since been cared for by his wife Corinna and a team of medical experts.

In September 2020 it was claimed Schumacher was spending time at the villa in Majorca.

Spanish press said he had been moved from his Swiss home to the exclusive property, which is located on the upmarket estate of Las Brisas near Andratx in the south-west of Majorca.

His family has opted not to give any details on his condition.

Reports in the Spanish press though have claimed Schumacher attended his daughter’s private ceremony.

Majorcan news outlet Ultima Hora said the service lasted around half an hour.

It’s said to have been followed by a banquet and party, including a performance by a country music band.

Among the guest list was Michael’s brother Ralf and his partner Etienne Bosquet-Cassagne, who also attended a pre-party at upmarket Mhares Sea Club on Friday afternoon.

Guests were instructed to leave their mobile phones at the door.

No media were given permission to attend.

Gina did take to social media to post a picture of the newlyweds once the ceremony was over.

Along with the photo, she wrote: “Forever yes to you, yes forever.”

MICK NOW ENGAGED

Now, speculation has started that Schumacher could be set to attend the wedding celebrations of his son Mick Schumacher after he got engaged at the weekend to his long-term girlfriend Laila Hasanovic.

The lingerie model shared a photo of a ring on her finger on her Instagram account, writing: “Then it’s game over.”

Schumacher Jr though has yet to post about the engagement on his social media sites.

Father and son were skiing together in the French Alps when Michael suffered his horror crash.

However it was only in March 2017 that Mick talked openly about his dad’s influence and referred to his father as an “idol” and “role model”.

Updates on the racing legend’s health have been few and far between.

Gina and her brother Mick wished their dad happy birthday with touching messages when he turned 55.

Gina wrote on Instagram: “Happy Birthday Papa! throwback to one of many of our adventures.”

The post was accompanied by a picture of her and her brother as kids with the F1 star.

Mick, now 25, wrote: “Happy birthday to the best Dad ever. Love you!”

The message showed a photo of them both wearing helmets, with a young Mick smiling and holding his thumb up as Michael looked lovingly towards him.

Schumacher’s ex-Formula One team Mercedes also posted a birthday message urging him to “keep fighting”.

Michael’s younger brother Ralf, who was also an F1 driver, told Bild at the end of last year: “Nothing is like before.”

He added: “I miss my Michael from back then. Life is sometimes unfair. Michael had been lucky many times in his life, but then the tragic accident happened.

“Fortunately, modern medicine has made it possible to do some things.”

His wife Corinna offered a rare insight on her husband’s state in a Netflix documentary in 2021.

She said “I miss Michael every day.

“But it is not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here.

“Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength. We’re together. We live together at home.”

PFL Battle of the Giants and UFC Vegas 99 Preview Show: Will Francis Ngannou have a triumphant return to MMA?

The UFC and PFL go head-to-head on Saturday, with the PFL putting on arguably the most important event in company history with Battle of the Giants, headlined by the MMA return of Francis Ngannou as he battles fellow knockout artist Renan Ferreira. While the stakes are certainly higher in Saudi Arabia, the UFC is bringing a fascinating middleweight main event between Anthony Hernandez and Michel Pereira.

Ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader, MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew and Mike Heck preview both events, discuss the burning questions surrounding Ngannou vs. Ferreira, the returning Cris Cyborg facing Larissa Pacheco, Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards 2, and A.J. McKee vs. Paul Hughes. Additionally, they’ll discuss the Hernandez vs. Pereira five-rounder at the APEX, the heavily-favored Kyler Phillips facing perennial ranked bantamweight Rob Font in the co-main event, answer your questions, and much more.

Erik ten Hag says Man Utd ‘have a mountain to climb’ as manager promises ‘success like last two seasons’

Erik ten Hag says Man Utd 'have a mountain to climb' as manager promises 'success like last two seasons'

ERIK TEN HAG admits Manchester United have a mountain to climb after their worst-ever Premier League start.

The under-fire Red Devils boss is still clinging on to his job ahead of Brentford’s visit to Old Trafford, with his side 14th in the table.

Ten Hag, who has accepted United’s start “is not good enough” following just two wins in seven league games, saw the club’s hierarchy hold a seven-hour London summit during the international break.

The Dutchman said: “We have a mountain to climb. But that is top football and sometimes you have to face challenges — sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down.

“But I am sure we will make it a success as we did the last two seasons.

“We are in a direction, underneath I see good things.

“I see good patterns and the good stats confirm we are in a direction but, of course, the ranking is not lying. We are where we are and that is not good enough.”

Ten Hag needs results as United bid to end a run of five games without a win in all competitions.

However, he has bad memories of facing the Bees in the early stages of his Old Trafford career.

The Red Devils were thrashed 4-0 in West London back in 2022 in Ten Hag’s first away game in the Premier League.

That result is Brentford’s only win in their last 11 meetings with this weekend’s opponents, though.

Thomas Frank’s side are also looking for their first points on the road this season.

Darren Bent claims Thomas Frank is ready to take over from Erik ten Hag at Man Utd

The Danish coach has so far seen his side lose to Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in a brutal run of away matches.

Their 10 points from 12 at home have seen Brentford climb to 11th, however, three places above United after seven fixtures this term.

Eblen vs. Edwards pick, prediction, time: PFL Super Fights

Eblen vs. Edwards pick, prediction, time: PFL Super Fights

Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards meet Saturday on the main card of PFL: Battle of the Giants at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards PFL Super Fights preview

Eblen (15-0) hopes to stay undefeated by defending his Bellator middleweight title for the third time when he rematches Edwards (13-3). The last time these two met, it was competitive until Eblen found the knockout just 21 seconds into the third round. … Since that fight, Eblen won a split decision against 2023 PFL champion Impa Kasanganay this past February. … Edwards rebounded from his title-fight loss with a unanimous decision win over Aaron Jeffery this past March.

Johnny Eblen (15-0) vs. Fabian Edwards (13-3)

Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards expert pick, prediction

Their first fight, which went down in September of last year, was a very competitive contest that saw Eblen sustain a potentially fight-ending cut before emphatically finishing Edwards in the following frame.

Since then, both fighters have had to dig out hard-fought wins, but I believe that the fighting dynamic between these two has remained the same.

Edwards, for as talented as he is, is not urgent enough when it comes to both striking output and getting his back put to the fence.

For that reason, I have a hard time picking against a tactically flexible fighter like Eblen who will – at least in theory – always have the wrestling option in his back pocket.

The official pick is for Eblen to pitch a shutout on the scorecards with a unanimous decision win.

Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards odds

The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the sitting champion, listing Eblen (-480) and Edwards (+330) via FanDuel.

Johnny Eblen vs. Fabian Edwards start time, how to watch

As the featured bout, Eblen and Edwards are expected to walk out to the cage at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET. The fight will stream on ESPN+ pay-per-view in the U.S. and DAZN pay-per-view internationally.

Track World Championships: GB’s Emma Finucane powers to gold to defend world sprint title

Track World Championships: GB's Emma Finucane powers to gold to defend world sprint title

Defending champion Emma Finucane produced a superb display in the women’s individual sprint to claim her second gold at the Track World Championships.

It caps a remarkable year for the 21-year-old sprinter, who was part of the trio that dominated the women’s team sprint and also became the first British woman to win three cycling medals in the same Olympics in Paris in August.

Finucane proved too strong for Dutch rider Hetty van de Wouw, while Japan’s Mina Sato beat Sophie Capewell to take the bronze.

“It’s really hard trying to defend a title and deal with pressure and expectation but I am really proud of the person I have become doing that,” said Finucane, who won her first sprint title in Glasgow last year.

“I really wanted it. Nothing is easy. To come away on top is insane, it is an amazing feeling. In my head I wanted to go to war.

“That is the kind of head space you have to get into sprinting. I’m not a naturally aggressive person but out on the track I am different.”

Finucane’s triumph came as Britain collected five medals on a successful Friday evening in Ballerup.

Josh Charlton and Jess Roberts took silvers in the men’s individual pursuit and women’s omnium, while Dan Bigham and Joe Truman claimed bronze medals.
