Jose Mourinho fined & banned for condemning match officials in Turkey

Jose Mourinho has received a one-match ban and fine of about £15,000 for his actions and comments at the end of Fenerbahce’s dramatic win over Trabzonspor.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager sprinted on to the pitch and attempted a knee slide after Sofyan Amrabat’s stoppage-time goal earned his Fenerbahce team a 3-2 victory in an incident-packed encounter.

However, he then launched into a angry post-match tirade that condemned refereeing standards in Turkey and appeared to question the impartiality of match officials.

In a statement, external the Turkish Football Federation said Mourinho’s comments were “contrary to sportsmanship, sports ethics or the concept of fair play” and “were diminishing the value” of football in the country.

They added that the one-time Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss’ remarks “were aimed at casting a shadow over or discrediting the impartiality of the referees and other match officials”.

In a match filled with controversy, Mourinho was unhappy with home team Trabzonspor being awarded two penalties – both after video assistant referee (VAR) consultations.

He also thought his side should have been awarded a spot-kick before Amrabat’s late winner.

2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds: Henry favored; Chase gains ground

For the second year in a row, all signs point to a running back winning the NFL’s Offensive Player of the year award, at least through 10 weeks.

The Niners’ Christian McCaffrey won the award last year, after racking up 1,459 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, along with 564 receiving yards and seven receiving scores.

However, he is not in the running for OPOY, considering he just returned from injury in Week 10.

So if not McCaffrey, who will be named the league’s top offensive star this season?

Here’s a look at the latest odds from DraftKings Sportsbook as of Nov. 12.

NFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR ODDS:

Derrick Henry, Ravens RB: -140 (bet $10 to win $17.14 total)
Saquon Barkley, Eagles RB: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals WR: +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total)
Justin Jefferson, Vikings WR: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB: +1400 (bet $10 to win $150 total)

Henry leads the league in carries (184), rushing yards (1,120) and rushing touchdowns (12). Between Week 3 and Week 7, he tallied 743 rushing yards (148.6 yards per game) and six scores.

In Week 10, he had 16 carries for 68 yards and a score. He’s scored a rushing TD in nine of the Ravens’ 10 games this season.

In the game in which he didn’t score a rushing TD, he had a receiving score.

Henry was named Offensive Player of the Year back in 2020.

Making the biggest move up the board is Cincy’s Ja’Marr Chase, who was dominant against the Ravens in Week 10. He caught 11 balls for 265 yards and three scores.

He now leads the league in receptions (66), receiving yards (961) and receiving touchdowns (10).

With that, his odds moved from +1600 to +550.
