PSG: Ligue 1 side forced to close part of stadium for visit of Toulouse as punishment for homophobic chanting
Paris St-Germain will be forced to close part of the Parc des Princes for next month’s Ligue 1 match against Toulouse as punishment for homophobic chanting by their fans.
The incident occurred during PSG’s 4-2 home win over Strasbourg on 19 October when supporters chanted about Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
France international Rabiot played for PSG between 2012 and 2019 but joined rivals Marseille on a free transfer in September after being released by Juventus.
PSG played Marseille eight days after the Strasbourg match, winning 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) said in a statement that PSG have to close the Auteuil stand – the end behind the goal traditionally occupied by a number of the club’s ultras.
However, the sanction does not start until 5 November which means PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Lens this weekend will take place without any restrictions.
Instead PSG will be forced to close part of their ground for the visit of Toulouse on 22 November.
Four PSG players were given one-match suspensions over their role in offensive chants after a win over Marseille last season.

Crystal Palace lining up swoop for Ligue 1 striker starlet as they refuse to meet Mateta’s huge wage demands
CRYSTAL PALACE have put Oumar Diakite at the top of their list of Jean-Philippe Mateta replacements.
The Eagles have watched Reims’ Ivory Coast striker for months as we revealed — and again last week.
Diakite, 20, could be sold by the French club and Palace want to be at the front of the queue in case contract talks with Mateta stall.
Mateta’s run of goals this year and his emergence in France’s Olympic squad has attracted interest.
Palace want him to stay and may yet meet his demands for a new deal on around £90,000 a week.
The striker has five goals this season but watched as defenders Marc Guehi and Trevoh Chalobah helped Palace to a 2-2 draw at Wolves.
Manager Oliver Glasner said: “As I mentioned, I think we could have decided the game in the right moments when we had the momentum on our side, that’s what we didn’t do.
“But overall, I think [the players] were asked: ‘are they able to score a goal as they are, when so many players are missing?’ And the team, the players, showed the right answer.
“I mentioned it at the press conference before the game: it’s time for others to step up.
“We had two defenders today scoring goals after set-plays, and also we created a lot of chances so overall, I think the mood is okay, and we go back to London with an unbeaten week, so everything’s fine.

“It’s football, and for me what is [important] is that we play our way, that we play with confidence, we play forward, we try to score goals.
“I think this is what we’ve found again this week: this playing forward, attacking style, playing with bravery. This is how we want to play.
“Overall, I’m really pleased with the performance.”

NBA results: Donovan Mitchell keeps Cleveland Cavaliers unbeaten
Donovan Mitchell’s basket with less than one second remaining ensured the Cleveland Cavaliers maintained their unbeaten start to the NBA season with a dramatic 114-113 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks were seemingly on course for the win when Damian Lillard’s jumper put them in front with 10 seconds left.
But Mitchell’s late reply nudged the Cavs ahead again, before an attempted buzzer-beater from Lillard bounced off the backboard in a thrilling finish.
The win means Cleveland stay top of the Eastern Conference with a perfect 7-0 record, while the Bucks are second from bottom with five defeats from six games.
“That’s a big win. They played their behinds off,” said Mitchell, who finished with 30 points, four assists and three rebounds. “As a group, we just continue to fight and claw.”
Lillard top-scored in reply for the Bucks with 41 points, nine assists and four rebounds, while Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 34 points and 16 rebounds.
“I’ve been in the league 13 years and I’ve had my share of rough nights, ups and downs, individually and as a team,” said Lillard.
“The only way to go from there is back to work and keep your mind right and try not to think about it too much.”
The Oklahoma City Thunder remain the only other unbeaten side in the league after beating the Los Angeles Clippers 105-92 to stay top of the Western Conference.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander top-scored with 25 points and nine assists as the Thunder open the season with six straights wins for the first time in its history.
Luguentz Dort, Jalen Williams, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe and Chet Holmgren all hit double figures for Oklahoma City, who have won all of their six games by at least 12 points.

Ruud van Nistelrooy: Legends in the dugout – when club heroes become bosses
Bournemouth player (1994-2002, 2004-2007): 313 appearances, 15 goals
Bournemouth manager (2008-2011, 2012-2020): 458 matches, 194 wins, 95 draws, 169 losses
Centre-back Eddie Howe came through the ranks at Bournemouth and went on to make more than 300 appearances for the Cherries during two spells at the club.
With the club in financial trouble and in danger of slipping out of the Football League, Howe became manager in 2008, kept them up, then won promotion in 2009-10. After a spell at Burnley, two more promotions followed as Howe took Bournemouth into the top flight for the first time in their history.
Mark Mitchener, BBC Sport senior journalist, said: “Eddie Howe the player was a crowd favourite, but Eddie Howe the manager became a Bournemouth legend.
“Expectations were not high when he took over as caretaker boss on New Year’s Eve 2008. Arguably, the Cherries were at their all-time lowest ebb – 23rd in League Two after administration forced them to begin the season on minus 17 points.
“Manager Jimmy Quinn’s tactics had alienated the fans while Darren Anderton chose to retire rather than endure Quinn’s man-management style. Off the field it was no better, with relegation and/or financial oblivion a realistic fear.
“From the outside, it looked like youth coach Howe was an expedient appointment, someone already on the payroll who knew the club well. The supporters knew him and were behind him, knowing what a duff hand he had been dealt.
“But he not only kept Bournemouth up, he won promotion the next season despite a transfer embargo. He returned after 18 months at Burnley to win two promotions in three seasons to take the Cherries to the unthinkable heights of the Premier League only six and a half years after the club was at death’s door – and kept them there for five seasons.
“The phrase ‘club legend’ barely does justice to him.”
