18 Favourites to Oliver Glasner

West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui on the touchline

Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, news none of the club’s fans wanted to hear. The Austrian manager is arguably the greatest coach in the club’s history, guiding the Eagles to their first trophy last season.

The Palace boss revealed on Friday (January 16th) that he intends to depart in the summer when his contract expires on June 30th. This has fuelled talk of the 51-year-old taking on a new job at an elite European club and GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs reports that he is “open” to replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

This means the Eagles will see out the rest of the season knowing their coach is headed for the Selhurst Park exit door. It raises the question as to who will succeed the Austrian, and the bookies have already revealed names in the frame.

One of those is Gareth Southgate, who has been out of management since stepping down as England manager. The former Three Lions boss isn’t a frontrunner, though, as five candidates are ahead of him with Betfair bettors.

18–13 – Outsiders

Palace got it right when they appointed Glasner as Roy Hodgson’s replacement in early 2024, but their fans might not be too excited by some names on this list. One of those is Julen Lopetegui, whose last job in the Premier League ended in dismissal at West Ham United.

The Spaniard, currently in charge of the Qatar national team, is at 16/1 to take over at Selhurst Park, and while he didn’t impress at the London Stadium, he did a fine job at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He boasts plenty of experience, having coached Real Madrid and Spain’s national team, albeit unsuccessfully.

Enzo Maresca would be a shock appointment but a popular one, and he too is at 16/1 to replace Glasner. The Italian was controversially sacked by Chelsea earlier this month after falling out with the board, just months after leading the club to the FIFA Club World Cup.

Another name who is backed at 16/1 is Brian Barry-Murphy, who is currently in charge of EFL League One side Cardiff City. The Irish coach’s stock is growing, having propelled the Bluebirds to the top of the table despite working under a transfer embargo.

ruben amorim-1

Ruben Amorim didn’t bring the glory days back at Manchester United, but he is at 12/1 to make a quick return to Premier League management with Palace. The Portuguese coach has lost his status as one of Europe’s most admired tacticians but could be eager to prove a point with a team that is already accustomed to a three-at-the-back system.

Palace could turn to Scott Parker, who has earned praise during his tenure at Burnley despite the Clarets being at major risk of relegation. He might be keen to stay in the top-flight and he is backed at 12/1 to do so with the South London outfit.

CESC FABREGAS

It would be a real show of how glamorous the Eagles’ job is now if Steve Parish were to convince Cesc Fabregas to leave Serie A side Como. The Spaniard is one of the most exciting upcoming coaches around and is 10/1 to return to the Premier League.

12–7 – Contenders

More attainable names in the frame start with Marco Silva, who continues to impress at Fulham despite limited financial backing. The Portuguese’s future is uncertain with his contract expiring this summer, and that might be why bettors are getting behind him at 10/1.

Frank Lampard struggled during spells in charge of Chelsea and Everton, but he has been a huge success at Coventry City. The England legend is at 10/1 to become the Eagles’ new boss, but he is currently focused on promoting his EFL Championship-leading Sky Blues.

One candidate that could prove to be a similar stroke of genius from Parish is Paulo Fonseca, who continues to be linked with Premier League jobs. The Lyon manager, backed at 10/1, is a European journeyman whose experience could come in handy for the South Londoners.

GIVEMESPORT has revealed that Palace put Jose Bordelas’ name down on their list of possible Glasner replacements before the Austrian confirmed he was departing. The Getafe boss is at 17/2 and does play a pragmatic style that gets results in La Liga.

Craig Bellamy is looking to take Wales to this summer’s World Cup via the playoffs, and the former Manchester City striker is another contender at 15/2. He has yet to test himself in the English top-flight and given his work in charge of the Dragons, he might be a name Parish considers.

USMNT Pochettino

That said, last season’s FA Cup winners might want a manager with proven Premier League experience, and that makes Mauricio Pochettino an intriguing candidate. While he will be overseeing the United States’ World Cup campaign, he is at 15/2 to take charge of a third English club.

6–1 – Favorites

gareth southgate england

Gareth Southgate is the most successful England manager since Sir Alf Ramsey, having guided the Three Lions to two European Championship finals. While his tactics were questioned during his near eight-year reign, there’s no doubt he galvanised the national team, and some bettors feel he could be the man for the Palace job at 7/1.

Going from Glasner to Steve Cooper might not go down too well with fans, given the Welshman didn’t exactly set the world alight in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest. But the current Brondby manager was the one who took the Tricky Trees up, and at 6/1, there might be an argument for giving him another chance in England.

Now, this would be interesting and a polarising choice in the Holmesdale Road Stand, but Ange Postecoglou is the fourth favourite at 6/1. The Australian’s Forest spell was among the worst the league has ever seen, but his Europa League triumph at Tottenham makes him a worthy candidate.

Roberto Martinez’s affection for English football is clear as he takes up punditry duty in the country while managing the Portugal national team. The Spaniard led Cristiano Ronaldo’s nation to UEFA Nations League glory last year, but could be tempted to get back to club football, and his odds to do so at Palace are 5/1.

If Parish doesn’t want to fork out a compensation fee for a Glasner replacement, then he might be enticed to pounce for Brendan Rodgers, who is at 4/1. The Northern Irish tactician parted ways with Celtic in October 2025, but there’s no doubting his credentials, having watched him thrive in a similar job at Leicester City, which included a 2021 FA Cup win.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna celebrates after beating Coventry

The joint-favourite at 4/1 to become Palace’s new manager come June is Kieran McKenna, and the South London side have seen his style of football up close. He guided Ipswich Town to not one but two promotions, and while his Tractor Boys suffered relegation last season, they are on course to bounce back up immediately.
