A North London Reunion: Could Mauricio Pochettino be set for a sensational return to Tottenham?
While Thomas Frank might have only arrived at Tottenham seven months ago, the Danish tactician already appears to be on his way out of north London.
Watching Tottenham get hit with a last-gasp 2-1 loss at home against relegation scrappers and historic rivals West Ham on Saturday afternoon, that result appeared to be the final nail in Frank’s coffin.
With fans around the white half of north London making their frustrations abundantly clear over the past few months, Spurs have shattered a string of unwanted records and they find themselves sat 14th in the table.
Winning just seven of their 22 games this season, the former Brentford boss is expected to be changed in the dugout after what has been a nightmare tenure across the capital.
However, while Frank might now find his position untenable, it has been suggested that the Tottenham hierarchy are eyeing what would be an emotional reunion with Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
Frank’s nightmare tenure
While Frank might have been announced as Ange Postecoglou’s permanent replacement back in June, it is fair to say that large section of the Tottenham fanbase were left somewhat underwhelmed.
Despite making it clear over the summer that he was relishing the opportunity to manage a Champions League club, Frank has incredibly flattered to deceive and his reputation has nosedived over the past few months.
Watching former club Brentford only continue to shine under Keith Andrews’ guidance, Frank looks like a defeated figure on the sidelines and must be wondering where it all went so wrong.
While there might not be any serious concerns over a relegation scrap in 2026, Frank’s tenure in north London has quickly become an infamous rut and they are languishing at the foot of the table.
Coming under even more scrutiny over the weekend as they slumped to that last-gasp 2-1 defeat at home against West Ham, that was Spurs’ ninth Premier League defeat of the season.
Sat in 14th-place and putting just 27 points on the board, Frank holds just an 18% win ration and he now holds the lowest win percentage of any Tottenham manager in Premier League history.
While Spurs might turn their attention back to Champions League duties on Tuesday night when they welcome Borussia Dortmund to north London, it remains to be seen in Frank will be at the helm.

An emotional return to north London for Poch?
Despite leaving north London back in November 2019 following what were reported issues between himself and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, Pochettino has made his affection for Tottenham clear.
Never fully ruling out a potential return to the club that he guided to a Champions League final seven years ago, it appears the stars could be aligning.
Widely regarded as the most successful manager in Tottenham’s recent history, Pochettino’s return to north London would certainly offer their anguishing fanbase a major boost.
While the one-time Southampton boss might be set to lead the United States at this summer’s World Cup on home soil, Pochettino is reportedly keen on holding discussions with Levy over what would be a blockbuster reunion.
Although the Tottenham hierarchy might be forced to wait until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, Football Insider reported over the weekend that the 53-year-old is firmly on Levy’s list of options to be Frank’s permanent replacement.
Despite making it abundantly clear that his sole focus is on the USA’s preparations ahead of their World Cup adventure in less than six months time, Pochettino has previously spoken about his desire to make a return to European football down the line.
: Mauricio Pochettino is open to returning to Spurs but the club are likely to appoint an interim manager until the end of the season if Thomas Frank is sacked.
