Rafael Leao has returned to group training today and is expected to be available for Milan’s next Serie A match against Cagliari.
Italian sources, including Sky Sport Italia, report that Milan star Rafael Leao completed a full training session with his teammates on Monday.
The Portugal international has missed the last three games across all competitions due to an adductor injury, but he’s expected to be available for the next league game against Cagliari.
It will be the first Serie A game of the year as the Rossoneri will visit the Sardinians on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 20:45 CET.
On the other hand, Matteo Gabbia’s availability remains uncertain as the Italian centre-back continued to train separately on Monday. Despite Leao’s recovery, Christopher Nkuku is still expected to start in Cagliari with Leao and new signing Niclas Fullkrug initially on the bench.
Fullkrug has already undergone medical tests with Milan, and his signature will be confirmed as soon as the January transfer window opens.
