Nottingham Forest are now keen on signing an “incredible” Premier League attacker this month, in light of his impressive form this season.

Sean Dyche drops update on Forest’s transfer plans

Sean Dyche has confirmed that Forest are planning to make some new additions to the squad this month, and the need to bring in a new forward has been exacerbated by Arnaud Kalimuendo’s departure to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.

The manager said: “They have been very open on the scouting side. We’ve had meetings with the scouting units and the analysis units to talk about players, and that has been ongoing for the last couple of months.

“You can be as optimistic as you want but until the pen is on the paper and it is done then you never know. But there are certainly ongoing conversations about the situations, that’s for sure.”

Following Kalimuendo’s exit, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jorgen Strand Larsen and Fenerbahce’s Youssef En Nesyri have been identified as potential targets at centre-forward, while the Tricky Trees are also keen to bolster their options in attacking midfield.

That is according to a report from The Athletic, which states Nottingham Forest are keen on signing AFC Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier this month, as the 26-year-old has now been on the shortlist for quite some time.

However, it could be difficult to get a deal over the line, given that Bournemouth are unwilling to sanction the departure of another attacker this month, after selling Antoine Semenyo to Premier League rivals Manchester City in a deal amounting to £62.5m.

The Cherries are also in a strong negotiating position, as the Englishman put pen to paper on a new long-term contract earlier this season.

“Incredible” Tavernier impressing at Bournemouth

Former Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil has lauded the attacking midfielder in the past, describing him as “incredible”, and he has put in some impressive performances for the Cherries during the current campaign.

Indeed, the 26-year-old has displayed his attacking prowess by contributing five goals and three assists in 22 matches across all competitions, while also showcasing his versatility by featuring in a number of different positions.

The Leeds-born ace has played in defensive midfield, attacking midfield and on both flanks, and his ability to play in a range of different positions would make him a useful option for Dyche.

Tavernier could be an exciting addition for Forest this month, but a deal doesn’t seem particularly likely, and bringing in a new striker should be more of a priority, in light of Kalimuendo’s recent departure.
