Alasdair Gold drops Tottenham manager hint that points straight at Enzo Maresca
With Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank under pressure, Alasdair Gold has dropped an update on who could replace the Dane, and it points straight at Enzo Maresca.
Frank’s future in doubt after latest defeat
There have been calls for Frank to lose his job in the wake of the 2-1 defeat against West Ham United on Saturday, with Jamie O’Hara saying: “You can’t lose to this West Ham team. They are one of the worst we’ve seen in the Premier League… and we lose to them 2-1.
“He’s got to go. I don’t care who comes in. I can’t watch another performance like this.
“This Tottenham squad is nowhere near good enough, it’s four years of bad recruitment under Daniel Levy and we’re paying the price. We’ve spent so much money and the team is shocking.”
Following the latest defeat, it emerged that USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino is now being considered as a replacement for Frank, with the Argentinian keen on a return to north London, having averaged 1.84 points per game during his previous stint in charge.
However, speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold has now hinted that Spurs could make a move for a different former Chelsea boss, given that Fabio Paratici, who is still in place until this summer, normally likes to bring in a certain type of manager.
Gold said: “I’m sure if Fabio Paratici has anything to say about it, it will be a manager from Serie A or a Jorge Mendes client. That seems to be his go-to thing most of the time.”
Mendes represents a number of high-profile managers, but most of them are currently in jobs, leaving Maresca as the obvious choice, given that both Bruno Lage and Vitor Pereira have been sacked by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Maresca could be exciting appointment for Spurs
A move for Pereira would make little sense, as he left Wolves bottom of the Premier League table, while Lage was dismissed by Benfica earlier this season and also got given the sack by the Old Gold following a run of six points in eight Premier League games.
Maresca, on the other hand, won two trophies during his spell as Chelsea manager, lifting the UEFA Conference League last season, before going on to win the Club World Cup, courtesy of an impressive 3-0 victory against Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Thomas Frank sack update immediately after shock Tottenham defeat to West Ham
The Dane is walking on very thin ice.
The Blues won 55, drew 16 and lost 21 of the Italian’s matches in charge, which resulted in a 59.8% win percentage, the highest of any manager since Champions League-winner Thomas Tuchel, who departed in 2022.
Having only left Chelsea following a highly publicised falling out with the board, Maresca deserves another chance at a top Premier League club, and he could be an exciting replacement for Frank, who is averaging just 1.28 points per match.
