Allegri sees plenty of scope for improvement from Nkunku despite Milan double
Massimiliano Allegri expects to see improvement from Christopher Nkunku after the forward broke his AC Milan duck in Serie A.
Nkunku netted his first goals in Italy’s top tier as he scored twice in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Verona.
That was a victory that kept the pressure right on Milan’s Scudetto rivals Inter and Napoli.
Nkunku, who joined Milan from Chelsea in the summer, converted a 48th-minute penalty before doubling his tally with a close-range finish soon after. Christian Pulisic had opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time.
“He’s a good guy who wants to do well,” Allegri told DAZN.
“He broke his duck today and then after the penalty, scored a goal that was in his DNA.
“I think he can continue to improve like everyone else.”
50 – Since his debut in #SerieA (2023/24) Christian #Pulisic is only one of the two players to have been directly involved in at least 50 goals in the top-flight (31 goals, 19 assists for him), along with Lautaro Martínez (53). Unstoppable.#milanhellas pic.twitter.com/lPgoqbhv3u

Nkunku scored multiple goals in a game for the first time since November 2024, when he did so against Noah in the Conference League.
The France forward had not netted more than once in a league match since May 2023, for RB Leipzig against Schalke in the Bundesliga.
Napoli also won on Sunday, applying further pressure to Inter ahead of their clash with Atalanta in the day’s late game.
Commenting on the title race, Allegri said: “At the moment, it looks like the Scudetto will be won on somewhere between 82 and 84 points. It could become 86 if a team has a good run, I don’t know.
“For us, it was important to win today and against a frustrating team who have a lot of speed. We finally beat a smaller side at home.”
