The former kickboxing world champion will make his highly-anticipated boxing debut later this month against the reigning Misfits heavyweight champion

Misfits heavyweight champion Chase DeMoor has revealed rival Andrew Tate insisted on a weight clause ahead of their showdown.

Tate, 39, is set to make his professional boxing debut on December 20 against the actor-turned-boxer. The controversial influencer was a well-established kickboxer and a former champion before injuries plagued the back end of his career.

After hinting at a potential return to action, it was announced that Tate’s comeback won’t take place in the kickboxing ring after he penned a deal with Misfits. His upcoming foe, DeMoor – the reigning heavyweight king – will prove to be a tough challenge for the ‘Cobra.’ With just over two weeks to go until the pair trade leather, both men met at a rather heated and fiery press conference in Dubai on Thursday evening.

DeMoor was forced to play the waiting game after his opponent was a no show for a brief spell. A visibly frustrated champion was willing to crack on and fulfil media obligations, but eventually, his rival turned up – and in some style. Tate rocked up in a boat along with his entourage before making his way to the stage.

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will face off for a heavyweight clash in Miami on December 19. The fight will stream live on Netflix, which fans can get for free with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle, the brand’s ‘lowest ever price’ for Sky TV.

It was at that moment, the Misfits heavyweight champion decided to reveal the truth and launch a scathing attack at his foe ahead of their dust-up. DeMoor claimed a weight clause limit WAS inserted into their respective contracts – against his wishes. When Tate offered his rival a slice of tangerine, his adversary hit back with: “I unfortunately cannot eat tangerines because Mr Tate is so scared of me that he put a 40lb weight clause in there, so I have to be drinking water.”

Tate, left rather dumbfounded by DeMoor’s remarks, replied: “Wait, wait, wait… sorry. Is there a weight limit… at a boxing match?! Woah, is there a weight limit at a boxing match?” Unsurprisingly, the pair started trading verbal jabs at each other. “For a heavyweight title fight, there should not be,” blasted DeMoor. “Did you not sign the contract?” quipped Tate. “You signed the contracts” an enthused DeMoor replied. “I did not sign anything. It was ‘Andrew insists this, Andrew wants that.’ I wanted 10 rounds in an open weight limit. You wanted a weight limit and six rounds buddy… we ain’t the same.”

As of yet, it remains to be seen what the official weight limit is, but the rules follow the same procedure as Jake Paul’s upcoming showdown with Anthony Joshua. The YouTuber-turned-boxer, a natural cruiserweight, will be making the move up to heavyweight for the first time since his win over Mike Tyson in November 2024.

For Joshua, the former two-time heavyweight champion has weighed over 250lb for his previous two outings in the ring. In a sensational compromise, the brit has been told he cannot weigh more than 245lb for his fight with the American. ‘AJ’ does not face a battle with the scales, though, after recently revealing he weighs just under the aforementioned limit – with just over two weeks to go until he makes his anticipated return.

Tate – who spent most of his kickboxing career at light-heavyweight – has well and truly taken a leaf out of Paul’s book, much to the frustration of DeMoor. Nevertheless, it is evident the 39-year-old is leaving no stone unturned ahead of fight night. “I am here to take it seriously,” said Tate. “It’s not influencer boxing. It’s boxing. I have trained 100 per cent. I am ready to get in there. I am very excited to get it done. If he wants to disrespect me until the day he gets punched in the face, that is up to him. I do not care, that does not change anything.”

DeMoor, meanwhile, could not brush aside the potential stipulations, continuing to blast and take verbal swipes at his rival. “You are scared. I saw it in your eyes. You got the weight. You got your f****** venue. You got the judges, the referees, the gloves, you have all of that. But if you do not want to bet the Bugatti because you know that you are going to be introduced to my right hand, and the whole world is going to laugh at you.”
